IGGY POP Avenue B Virgin

"Above all, I didn't want to take any more shit. Not from anybody". Ach Iggy, ich liebe Dich. Nicht nur für diese Zeilen. Nein, auf Deiner neuen Platte sind ja Dutzende solch genialer Auswürfe. "It's not the four inch heels she wears. It's not the baby fine blond hair. It's more the desert in her stare. I got a nazi girlfriend". Auf jede Krachplatte folgt bei Iggy Pop ein besinnliches Album. Eine besinnliche Iggy Pop-Platte? Doch doch, es stimmt. Auf Iggys neuem Album klingt alles ein wenig gediegener als sonst üblich. Zwar wird "Shaking All Over" ziemlich knallig gecovert, aber insgesamt zeigt sich Iggy eher nachdenklich. Will sagen: hier geht es schwer balladesk zur Sache. Und schon allein Mr. Pops Stimme ist die Reise wert. Don Was hat dieses Album kongenial produziert. Und Iggy Pop zeigt allen mal wieder, was Sache ist: "Corruption rules my soul". Ein Blatt hat er ja noch nie vor den Mund genommen. Eine ungeheuer gute Platte. Mirko Puzic
